Designer: Charles and Ray Eames, 1948
Description: The La Chaise was originally designed for an international competition for low-cost furniture at the Museum of Modern Art New York. However, the design was too expensive to be manufactured at that time and it was not until 1990 that is was taken into mass production. The La Chaise has possibly the most dramatic and expressive design among the classics. It is an unprecedented piece of design in the true meaning of the word.
Materials: The shell is made of fibreglass and the frame is polished stainless steel. The base is solid wood.
