Charles Eames, born 1907, and his wife Ray Eames, born 1912, achieved international recognition as designers of buildings, furniture, interiors, toys, industrial products, films, graphics and more.
Their breakthrough with furniture was in 1946 when several designs were exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The result of the exhibition was mass production of their molded plywood chairs by Herman Miller Furniture Company. Since then, Eames furniture is known for its beauty, comfort and elegance.
