Need help with Designers Revolt? Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions.
What is the difference between your products and the originals?
The original designer furniture was produced around the time of design and they are now rare pieces which can be found in museums, etc. We claim that our furniture is as close to the designers original as the licensed copies, made by the high street producers possessing the copyright license.
How is your quality compared to the originals?
The quality of our furniture is fully comparable with the so called 'original', licensed version. In several cases we use higher quality materials than those used on the licensed versions. An example of this is the use of stainless steel instead of chrome plated steel in most of our products. Also we can offer designer chairs, originally designed in fibreglass, which are still in this material, as opposed to the polypropylene plastics often used by the license holder.
Why are your prices so low compared to the originals?
The original idea behind copyrights was to give an artist or inventor protection from others using their work. However, when copyrights are made to last for a very long time and can be sold, then this creates a monopoly situation. Someone having a monopoly can set his own prices. No wonder prices are so high.
Where did you get the “high street price” you refer to?
Most of the high street prices we refer to are factual examples from known furniture dealers. Some high street prices are suggested prices to retailers from the producers.
Is it legal for me to buy your products?
Yes, it is. Copyright protection on these products lasts 25 years in the U.K and has expired on all of our products. And since there is free movement of goods inside the European Union, everyone inside the EU (companies as well as private persons) can buy our products for private use.
What fabrics are used?
The fabrics we are using are called Bydal and Telldal respectively. These fabrics are of a Scandinavian type with a clear structure. Bydal consists of 75% wool and 25% nylon and has a coarse texture, with different coloured fibres mixed in. Telldal consist of 85% wool and 15% nylon, with a smoother texture and in plain colour.
What type of leather is used?
We use high quality hides, coloured with a clear and transparent chemical called aniline. In contrast to pigmented or painted leather, which has a more uniform and dull surface structure, aniline leather allows the grain of the leather to be seen and gives the skin a natural look. This is the reason why variations on the surface of the leather sometimes remains visible.
If I provide my own fabric can it be used to upholster my order?

Yes, the goods are insured.

Can I return an item if I’m not happy?
Yes, you can return your goods within 30 days of taking delivery, without needing a reason. Please contact our customer support to help you arrange the return shipment. The cost of returning goods is 495 SEK per shipment, which you have to pay.
If I return an item will I get a full refund?
Yes you will get full refund if you return “in stock” goods in an unused and fully resalable status, which includes the packaging. If the package is destroyed or heavily damaged we will charge 1 000 SEK as repacking fee. If you have bought products made to order and would like to return them we charge a restocking fee of 20% of the initial cost of the product(s).
Why do you have a restocking fee?
Since products ordered by you are not in our ordinary stock we need to cover the cost of reselling them at a lower price.
What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay by credit or debit card or, by using our Klarna payment solutions, invoice 14 days after you have received the goods, or by part payment in monthly installments.
When paying by debit or credit card, 20% of the order value is taken at the time of order and the 80% balance is then taken when the goods are ready to ship from the warehouse. Please ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover the balance payment. Should we not be able to take the payment we will inform you by email and will attempt to take payment between two and seven days later. If we cannot take payment within three attempts, we reserve the right to cancel your order and a 20% restocking fee will apply, which means that we will not refund the 20% paid at the time of order.
What if my order is not held in stock?
If your order isn't held in stock and is being made to order, you will still not receive the invoice or have to pay anything until 14 days after you have received the goods.
Is tax included in the prices?
For all countries within the EU tax (VAT) is included in the prices shown. For all countries outside of the EU, including Norway and Switzerland, VAT is excluded from the prices shown and will be charged separately.
