Eero Aarnio was born 1932 and studied at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki. Aarnio is most well known for his innovative furniture designs from the 1960s, notably his plastic and fibreglass chairs. Aarnio's designs represents the 1960s popular culture and could often be seen as part of sets in period science-fiction films.
The Ball chair - with its hollow sphere - and the hanging transparent Bubble Chair are two of Aarnio’s most known designs. Several of Aarnio’s designs are represented at MOMA New York and Vitra Design Museum.
